Nine years of planning, intensive coordination and a strong network of partners – a key milestone has now been reached: the development plan procedure for the New Garden Field has been finalised. An important step for one of Berlin’s largest and most ambitious urban development projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the western outskirts of the capital, a new, forward-looking urban neighbourhood for over 10,000 people is being built on an island in the district of Spandau. The New Garden Field symbolises the urban development of the 21st century: communal, intergenerational, ecological and networked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OPM is proud to be managing the infrastructure project together with our project partners, with a clear focus on sustainability, digitalisation and reliable project management.

Sustainable heat supply as a key element<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong>
A key feature of the new neighbourhood is its climate-friendly energy supply: The required heat will be produced directly on site in a dedicated energy centre. This will be fed into a neighbourhood-wide local heating network and will reliably supply all buildings on Gartenfeld with CO\u2082-free heat in future. The result is an urban neighbourhood that is not only energy-efficient, but also actively contributes to reducing emissions.

From plan to reality: the first construction phase begins<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong>
Following the successful completion of the development plan procedure, the next phase is now starting: the first building will be completed this year (Q4\/2025). This marks the start of the realization of what has been planned and prepared together for years – a lively place for living, working, meeting and urban innovation.
